Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Small bowl
  • Pastry Brush
  • Knife

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 breakfast sausage links, cooked
  • 4 slices cheddar or American cheese, cut into strips

Egg Wash

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp milk

Optional

  • maple syrup for dipping
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the dough: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into 8 triangles, each forming the base for one breakfast pig in a blanket.
  • Add cheese and sausage: Place a strip of cheese on the wide end of each dough triangle. Set a cooked breakfast sausage link on top of the cheese, creating a melty center once baked.
  • Roll them up: Starting from the wide end, roll the dough around the sausage, tucking the pointed end underneath. Make sure the cheese stays wrapped inside so it melts beautifully during baking.
  • Brush with egg wash: In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Brush the top of each roll with the egg wash to help the dough bake into a golden, glossy finish.
  • Bake until golden: Arrange the wrapped sausages on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crescent dough is puffed, golden brown, and fully cooked.
  • Serve warm: Let the breakfast pigs in a blanket cool for 1–2 minutes, then serve with maple syrup or your favorite dipping sauce for a cozy, comforting breakfast bite.
