- 2 lb ground beef
- 1 large onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cans kidney beans, drained 15 oz cans
- 1 can tomato sauce 15 oz
- 1 can diced tomatoes 14.5 oz
Seasonings
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- salt and black pepper to taste
Brown the beef: Place a large pot over medium heat and add the ground beef. Cook, breaking it apart, until fully browned and no longer pink.
Sauté the aromatics: Add the diced onion to the pot and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add tomatoes and beans: Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and drained beans. Mix well to combine.
Season the chili: Add chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until evenly distributed.
Simmer gently: Reduce heat to low and let the chili simmer uncovered for 40–45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thick and flavorful.
